CHARACTERIZATION: okay, so obviously this season had ups & downs especially in terms of brooke’s characterization. in my opinion, it was going perfect & very in character up until around the middle to end of ep 5. her suspecting seth right away was just very ??? to me. & then, everyone’s favorite episode: episode 6. where they had brooke act like a complete psycho, which was very ooc. even in episode 7, a day after episode 6, she ditched that behavior & was telling audrey to not judge her in a whiny tone. though, to me, the rest of the season was decent. her speech at the carnival totally felt like the brooke I know & love. & from that episode on, I feel pretty okay. my only complaint would be how distant she was from the group, hanging out with gustavo instead. I don’t care for them as a ship, but brooke seeking comfort in men is in her character - so i understand. though, I prefer them as a brotp. ( jake is still very much apart of her. )
FINALE BROOKE: at the start of the episode, you can really see how numb she is to the news of her father’s death. & it totally makes sense. brooke has been through so much, mind you that all of this has taken place in only a total of 4-5 months, & she’s just so used to tragedy at this point. I plan on writing meta / a drabble on brooke’s reaction to quinn’s death. brooke visiting noah one on one in the hospital? hell yeah. i live for these two as a brotp. & brooke immediately stepping up & rushing over to the movie theater? that’s what I love. much like the other characters, she is learning to face her fears.
POST - FINALE BROOKE:
as for what we saw of brooke in the ending, having dinner with the acosta’s, that kinda just goes along with my feelings on the ship. i’m not really into it & in my portrayal, brooke doesn’t think of them as too serious. also, though we see her happy & smiling, post - finale brooke is still very paranoid. she’s very scared & shocked at the fact that it happened for a second time. more deaths, more agony. in terms of her living arrangements, I have to think that through a bit. I like the thought of her staying with the duvals, I also like the thought of her living alone. idk, we’ll see. I still have to wait & see what happens in the halloween special, too.
FINALE IN GENERAL: lit af, yooo. it made kieran a lot more interesting & I was happy about that considering kieran hasn’t had much of a storyline in the past. brooke getting stabbed? literally had me on the edge of my seat because of how nervous I was that she was gonna die. emma duval? badass as hell & i love how she chose to not kill kieran, to not stoop to his level. audrey? though the writers are making her seem innocent, I don’t really buy it. plus, I love the thought of dark!audrey. & lastly, the ending. the whole kieran in jail / brandon possibly being back arc is so great & I can’t wait for that to be explored in the halloween special / a possible season 3.
’ HEY, it could be worse… — ’ her voice trails off, it’s strained, and a scoff is quick to rise out of her throat as she falls quiet. the distant sounds of monitors beeping and she didn’t even believe that herself, let alone getting anyone else to believe it. there was no sugar-coating the truth, things were bad — extremely bad — and the only way they would get any better was to find out the identity of the sicko behind the mask, the one pulling the strings. until then, they were all sitting ducks — a feeling audrey had grown sorely accustomed to. ‘ nevermind — you’re right, everything is so screwed up, ’ hands are shoved into pockets — easier to keep them occupied, to keep herself distracted that way.
‘ and — seriously, brooke — don’t beat yourself up over what happened at the carnival. lakewood had that one coming. i just thought i’d be the one telling this town to go screw itself, ’ lips curve into the faintest ghost of a smile — her attempt at easing the situation ( easier said than done. )’ so what about your dad? i mean — have you talked to him since then? about anything? ’
she won’t even attempt to throw a friendly scowl her way ; not when an exterior insists on a look that shows she’s numb to the pain. misery sits under scarred flesh, remaining even after the lakewood slasher’s demise. though now it’s reached increasing levels. this town, death had marked its territory on it. // the lakewood six had just been crossing its path.
the thought of how much more simple her life was months ago strolls her mind, — that ICHOR - drenched mind. so young & so traumatized : they are crime scenes personified. the possibility of any upcoming day being her last / being the bulls - eye to the killer’s dart — it frightens her. can you trust those around you ?can you trust yourself ?
& within those harrowing thoughts, lies her stereotype. not the final girl / not the brains. though simply what would’ve been rotten by now. the ALPHA BITCH that was lucky to make it through this burnt out slasher film, though this would be considered the sequel. but old ways have been ditched - past mannerisms, left behind. there’s fallen princess in her veins, SURVIVOR marked on her body. & despite the horrors that she knows are yet to come, she reaches a shred of HOPE ; that any madness owned by a psycho resting their visage behind a brandon james mask will conclude — the ending to the calamity that has latched itself onto the lakewood six. & that was whether it was her, or one of her friends, behind this killer’s quietus.
ruby petals allow a smile to leak once being praised for her carnival stunt, she’s seemed to have almost forgotten audrey’s way of lifting her spiri — despite the circumstances. there’s a certain sense of comfort that the girl hands over. she dips optics in euphoria before the one opposite her’s question.
❝ yeah, but he — he just never has much to say. ❞
a tight jaw leaves some details out, ——— trust nobody, right? gloomy eyes shift downward, before briskly jumping up. her lips curl slightly, presenting a look as if something set a spark in her head. ❝ then again, neither do I. ❞
